Music on TV

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

So everyone knows that I’m a huge sucker for teen dramas, I finally made peace with this fact “yes, I watch horrible TV shows, and I know it.” I also dislike watching the series if the season is not over. I don’t know who has the patience to wait a week to find out more ‘juicy’ details! So I play them in the background while working and it’s one episode after another. Once the season is done, I can forget about the show altogether and move on to better things, ahem, like another teen drama! This current show will drive me insane, because I was too careless to check if it’s still airing before I started to watch… Pretty Little Liars… episode 11, eleven more to go, 11 more weeks to wait. That is so not cool! Looking back, the improvement of teen dramas is incredible over the past ten years. Plots are not as stretched out and sappy, it’s all action now, vampires, detectives, that sort of thing. Although the consumerism part of todays television makes me worry. It’s all about fashion, brand names and the latest trends, no one can possibly keep up with this in real life. But the show does make for good eye candy.

This brings me to my music discovery of the week: The Pierces – Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge. They have a theme song for Pretty Little Liars, and it is so catchy I just had to check out the rest of the album. It is genius! The combination of dark, creepy, self-indulgent lyrics with quirky melodies is perfect. There is somewhat of a story line you can follow from one song to the next, and paint your own picture in-between. Amazing addition to my ‘creepy’ song collection.

Random Wednesday – Teenage dream

Watching two seasons of Gossip Girl has officially tipped my scale towards the ‘dark side’. I know, shame on me! I resisted for so long and even skipped the last season of The OC. In my defense… I am researching fashion? Can’t help but love the show, and Chuck Bass is by far my favourite. From his purple infused outfits to evil looks, he’s just too good to dislike. Everyone else has their moments, but I find them mostly annoying, especially the narrator. The list of shows that I’m ashamed to admit I watched are as follows: Dawson’s Creek, the OC, Gilmore Girls, and Gossip Girl… All I’m missing are the head bands, drama queen boyfriends, talking very fast, and maybe some sand.

I think this is the cutest bunny that I have ever seen. Not only is it adorable, but it ‘eats’ different things. To whoever designs these things, know that I’m jealous of your imagination! Gah, too much cuteness to handle.

Random Wednesday – Lost Beach

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Since I skipped out on all the TV watching while in London, not that I watch a lot of it as is, I managed to fit in the season finale of LOST and the premier of Bachelorette – the two shows I never watch! LOST was just horrible, and no need for hate mail. I have only seen the pilot episode and the season finale. I’m sure many things happened in that show during it’s run, but for a person who never got into it, season finale was just uber cheesy. The Bachelorette…. oh my, why does this show even exists? The guys were just hilarious, in a bad sense of that word. For one they all looked way too old for their 25-33 age bracket, and were just plain weird. I would have narrowed them down to maximum five in the first 10 minutes.  “jump out of the roof of the car” – OUT,  “talked bad about the other guy” – OUT, “creepy all around” – OUT.. see it’s easy! WOW guys don’t take rejection well.

I’m not going to talk about the weather, I’m not… Oh come on, how can I not talk about the weather?!? It’s glorious! One downside is that there is no ocean around so I can’t even go to the beach. Lake Ontario doesn’t count! …and hot, muggy weather in the city just makes people sweaty.

Random Wednesday – TV and Books

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010
  • Who knew that past Monday was the most depressing day of the year?! Weird, my Monday was pretty awesome! It didn’t feel any different, until I watched the news and they announced that it’s a horrible day. I don’t have time for that, or to be depressed just cause the news says that I should be. Maybe it’s time to unhook the cable, there is nothing good on TV as it is.
  • I have a little leaning tower of Pisa piled up in my room, made out of books that need to be read. It’s time to cut down on the hours spent behind this silver machine of mine and do something more valuable. It always happens, books collect, no time or desire to read them, once the threshold is reached, I go on the “don’t distract me, I’m reading, and MIA to the world” swing. But don’t worry, the super valuable fast reading skills will be applied and you won’t even notice that I was gone.
  • As mentioned yesterday, here is a photo of me being frozen in my Yeti wanna be outfit. In comparison to the Pretty Lady, I think I win in the “over layering” department!
