Home…sweet home!

Friday, February 10th, 2012

I love being home! That is all! Don’t get me wrong, I love to travel, see new places, enjoy the sun, skip the winter, but it feels like I haven’t been home in a while. I missed my oatmeal in the morning, endless cups of tea, my chair, laptop and most of all, my work! Shhhh I know… I’m a total nerd, but I truly love what I do, and when I can’t sit down and work for a while, I get all antsy and have withdrawals. Soooo, long story short, I’m home and super excited to get back into the swing of things, and start sharing all the projects from the past couple of months.

Not going to lie, I was very excited to find this tumbleweed in the middle of Arizona!

Trois-Rivières

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

This city is as charming as they come. Century old buildings line the streets, cobblestones, churches, statues and everything else I picture when I think of Quebec. To make things even more charming, soft snow was dancing in the air last night making everything seem not quite real. At the shore, Saint Lawrence river was silently moving past the city, carrying the remainders of winter in the form of ice floes.

I’m in love with these rooftops, all different, all original.

Mexico – Part III

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

Let me run wild in Mexico and I end up walking down the aisle to the alter! On a warm evening when the last sun rays were kissing palm trees on a horizon, I walked the red carped down to the water and a lovely canopy with it’s white chiffon flowing in the wind. It was incredibly romantic and everything I imaged the wedding would be: white sand, turquoise ocean, sunset, family and friends. Perfection! Except it wasn’t my wedding! I was slightly terrified, obviously I wasn’t the bride, but it was the ONLY way to get to my destination. Thankfully, the ceremony was over and bridal party were taking photos down the beach. An uncomfortable situation successfully averted, and I got to walk down the aisle (with no one waiting for me, but still!) On that night, a boy ran by me and posed in front of the camera for no apparent reason.

I’ll start with left overs of sunrise photos without an actual sun.

The workers were out VERY early

So were the joggers

From a different morning

A coconut washed up on the shore as sun was about to set.

Pelicans were out fishing

The whole sunset was taking place behind these palm trees.

Night time on the beach

It was a full moon.

Mexico – Part I

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

Eyes closed, toes in sand, book in my lap, listening to the ocean sounds and seagulls… there have to be seagulls! I’ve always pictured it this way, my perfect vacation; I would spend days on the beach just reading and sipping on those colourful drinks. As I discovered, there are no seagulls in Mexico, but pelicans. I changed my mind, my perfect vacation requires pelicans.  They are so much better than seagulls, for one they don’t steal your food. They also go diving for fish at sunrise and sunset and the rest of the day they ‘chill’ on the straw roof tops. I definitely heart pelicans… and mojitos, no overly sweet colourful drinks for me. My week long getaway was the first time I set foot on the ‘warmer’ parts of the world, and was it ever glorious! I probably made all my friends jealous talking none stop about the sun, sand, and 26C water. I’ll cut my ‘OMG it was the best, fantastic, most amazing, fabulous, tan-erific vacation EVER” talk, because who wants to listen to “sugar-high” kid who just got back from the candy store. Instead I’ll start with the photos of the resort. Grand Sunset Princess Resort – all taken at night on long exposures.

Main area of the resort. Food, entertainment, and reception are here.

They had a Christmas tree!

Same courtyard with fountains and sitting areas.

Additional sitting huts on the water.

Villas

They had pretty statues along the walkway.

Rooms with pool entrance.

Party/Activity pool with a bar.

Dinner was served on the beach one of the nights. Fantastic food!

I stayed away from these : )

Tobermory

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

I’m a pretty happy camper, especially when it comes to being in the forest and photographing all kinds of mushrooms! Hiking, I love hiking! Tobermory was spectacular! It’s a cute little village on the Bruce Peninsula with breathtaking views, the clearest water I’ve ever seen, jagged cliffs, and centuries old forest. Even though the weather didn’t cooperate, I was left with a warm and fuzzy feeling about the place. Will definitely come back next summer. Enjoy the photos.

UK – Day 6 and 7

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Well, my London adventures are coming to an end, leaving for Toronto tomorrow morning. The vacation was short and sweet, just long enough for me to see everything and not get bored of it. Today we got a good use out of the ‘travelers card’ and hopped around last sports that we have missed previous days. Visited St. Paul’s Cathedral, walked Millennium bridge, Tate Modern, Shakespeare Globe, Sherlock Holmes Museum, and probably other places that I have already forgot about. Enjoy the photos.

UK – Day 4

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Wow time flies, especially when you walk non-stop and cover huge areas of London in one go. Today was more of the ‘no pictures allowed’ day. Stopped by the Westminster Cathedral, Westminster Abbey (again, 17 pounds fee!!!), House of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, ad St. James Palace. Walked around the streets a bunch, stopped by Piccadilly circus, and St. Jame’s park. Whaa, got tired just typing all those names that mean nothing to no one : ) Anyways, it was fun. Saw all the tombs and stones, felt like on a ‘DaVinci code’ adventure. Learned many new things, but should have probably payed for the audio tour at the Abbey.
Here are few more curious things about England.

  1. Fruit is very scrawny. I don’t mind, they still taste good.
  2. Some taxis have no meters, so it’s always a surprise how much you’ll pay.
  3. Payed washrooms, not very surprising, but still.
  4. Some house of parliament members get to work by bicycles in SUITS. Cool!
  5. Royal guards only blink and sometimes walk two steps to the side and back, and stomp their feet – stretch exercise, or so I assume. They also work as props for tourists. Horsey looked annoyed today, because everyone who took a photo with it proceeded to pet her..

Yaaay more iPhone photos! I bet no one would want to see the real photos now : )

UK – Day 3

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

Today was a day of closed restaurants, crappy weather, and modern vs.  old architecture! Went by the Tower Bridge and Tower of London, as well as Butler’s Wharf, and walked around More London Riverside glass buildings. All I can say is ‘whaaaaa! Very pretty.” The tower of London is definitely worth a visit, but I pulled my student card out in objection to 17pound fee! I SAW THE QUEENS CROWN! It was very sparkly behind all that bullet proof glass! Too bad I couldn’t take photos of all the jewel encrusted swords and crowns, and Oh Em Gee so much bling! Went into the White tower, and the traitors corner, and that lovely square where they beheaded Anne Boleyn. Superb but very bloody history behind that Tower. Oh, and I even saw the ravens! Also stopped by the Gherkin but it was really starting to rain so we made out way back.

Baltimore, Maryland

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

“Can we stop by Charm City Cakes?” – I asked when driving into Baltimore. Too much Food Network? I sure think so!  The afternoon was sunny and warm, with temperatures climbing past 20C for the first time this year. Dressed like I have no one to impress, literally, we spent a few hours walking around the pier, downtown, and Mount Vernon. I have nothing but good impressions from this city. Loved the brick houses, cast iron staircases, architecture, historic monuments and lively ambiance. Will definitely come back, and no, I didn’t get to see my Charm City Cakes.

Spring Travel!

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

Hello my favourite blog readers and general stalkers. Just wanted to let everyone know that I’m heading down to New York city tonight and will be traveling around eastern States till the 26th. If anyone is in NY, Boston, Philadelphia, or Washington area and would like to have some good food or tea with moi, and maybe show me around their lovely city, please drop me a line! I’ll be off my regular blogging schedule and probably will be posting photos from my travels. I also have a few lovely photoshoots to share, but alas, those have to wait till my return. Internet, I’ll catch you on the flip side!
