There is no better way to end off the year and ring in the new one than with the grand opening of the much anticipated Butter Avenue pâtisserie & café. I’m sure that by now you all know how much I LOVE macarons. They are bite sized little pieces of heaven. The lovely people at Butter Avenue have got it down to perfection, and I’m not just saying that because the owners are good friends of mine. Tina along with her brother Calvin have opened up a this little pastry shop by Yonge and Lawrence area (3467 Yonge St. Toronto ON. M4N 2N3). I had the pleasure to attend their grand opening where macarons were flying off the shelves, especially sea salt caramel ones. Drop by if you are in the area or if you’re looking for a different, yet classy dessert to bring to a dinner party. Oh, and they also would make perfect ‘guest favours’ for a wedding. Just saying… In the meantime, here are some photos I took of the new café and their glorious desserts.

Butter Avenue – New Store!
Tuesday, December 27th, 2011Sweet Thing
Monday, April 25th, 2011A few weeks ago we pulled our creative strings and gathered for Butter Avenue’s ‘Spring Engagement’ themed photoshoot. We wanted it to be soft and elegant but with a bit of a twist, and the library was a perfect location. My fascination with libraries, their character and grand architecture runs deep. I’d love to have an engagement party among old books, study desks, and leather couches – a perfect dose of elegance and nerdiness. A huge thanks goes out to everyone who helped organize this shoot, and especially to our gorgeous models! A special thanks to Eri Inamasu for make up and hair, and Secret Jewel for providing all the pretty ‘bling’. Can’t express how excited I am about the soon to be opened Butter Avenue pâtisserie & café. It will be a fabulous space for all these delicious macaron’s and pastries, and I can’t wait to have a cup of tea with my favourite Earl Grey macaron there.

Valentine’s
Friday, February 11th, 2011Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and I’m sure there are many ‘hopeless romantics’ who still wonder what to do for their sweetie pie, honey, monkey, and [insert 'pet' name here]. Well, this romantic picnic in the forest might take a little preparation, a trip to a good bakery, and many layers of clothing, but you won’t fail to impress! The truth is, I’m not the biggest fan of Valentine’s day as it stands nowadays. The constant advertisement of jewellery and flowers, the pressure to do something ‘special’ just because it is Valentine’s day – the expectations and disappointments are definitely not my thing. However, letting the other person know what they mean to you, and making them feel appreciated and loved, is worth a lot more than anything money can buy. And if it takes a little effort, lots of sugar and hot chocolate, mixed with some candles and love poems, then why not?
All the baked goods for our romantic day in the forest were from Butter Avenue. The ever so lovely Tina also made these incredible heart shaped macarons for this Valentine’s, and I’ll be treating myself to a box of those, but perhaps not in the forest.
Hot chocolate with marshmallows!
Red Dogwood for a centerpiece.
Loved that chandelier! It made everything so magical.
