Today I [heart] – If I were a boy

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

…I’d be a very cool stylish one! Well, hopefully I’d have some sort of a fashion sense, and my mother wouldn’t dress me till I’m 30. Maybe my girlfriend would, but still…  I’d have a collection of pretty sneakers, nice jackets, nerdy t-shirts, and very cool accessories. I’d give out “Stop Talking” cards to all the annoying ladies while wearing my handsome shades… Wait, I already sound like a jerk. Hmmm need to rethink my boy strategy! I love guys fashion, pretty boys wearing amazing clothes make my heart melt!

Today I [heart] – Globe Trotting

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

To pick up and leave and travel, wouldn’t it be nice? It doesn’t take much persuading to have me go see new places, experience different cultures, and do what I really enjoy. No need to ask me twice. Pack light, have a very sexy camera, and a bag to keep it all, that’s all I need.

Today I [heart] – The Farm

Monday, January 25th, 2010

I have a mini fascination with farms and life on a country side. I’d like to imagine that it’s a very relaxed, slow pace lifestyle without cell phones, internet, traffic, and general craziness of the city. Although, I’d be unable to survive on a farm without the internet… So, I’m imagining my farm with the internet! While I’m getting more into whole foods, organics, and watching all the chemicals consumed with food, farms come up more often. I’m turning into a modern day ‘hippie wanna-be’ and supporting local farmers and their hard work to produce good food! I think there are significant changes on the horizon from mass produced, tasteless, chemical filled greens and meats to healthier, better quietly ones. Come on Canada, you can do it! The inspiration for this post came from books on food, documentaries, and a new season of Project Runway : ). Potato sack cocktail dress anyone?

Pretty Lady

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

When stores gear up for fall/winter season and warm sweaters, jackets, and boots roll in, it makes me do pirouettes (the clumsy, not so graceful kind) along the streets in anticipation of all the pretty things of the season. But once snow falls in TO, and instead of white and fluffy it goes salty and gross, and the temperatures dip below -10C, no pretty winter outfits will cut it! I usually end up looking like a yeti wanna be. However, this post is about a beautiful girl who braved -15C temperatures and managed to look fabulous while doing so. Enjoy the photos.

Random Wednesday – Beets

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009
  • Is there a gene for jumping? I should technically know, but if there is one, I definitely inherited mine from an elephant and it’s showing itself in all it’s dominant glory! Left, right, left, jump, spike – is not an easy combination to master. I ether get confused in steps and forget to spike the ball (we’re talking volleyball here), or do hit the ball (poorly) and forget to jump all together! Now I remember why I quit playing when I did – jumping part was way too intimidating… Oh well, one day! I try!
  • I saw Sunny Fong and he is as adorable in real life as on TV. Last year, I’ve been glued to TV watching the only reality tv show that I do watch, Project Runway – Canada edition. After each episode I went around saying “Sunnyyyyyyyy”!!! Yes, I know, it’s very immature and I never get that excited about celebrities, half-celebrities, or anyone really, but this guy was amazing. I love his designs, his personally, and he is so adorable! Sunny opened this year’s LG Fashion Week with his VAWK spring/summer 2010 collection at AGO, and I was there! Never mind waiting in the line for two hours in the cold, the collection was wonderful.
  • As per usual, I clicked ‘import’ and ‘back up to hard drive’ only to get the red light, saying “Insufficient space” What? Already? I filled up yet another HD with humangously large RAW photo files. The new 1TB drive was purchased, just to find out that provided FireWire is not the one that my Mac likes! Tsk tsk, why do they have to make everything so complicated! Not cool.
  • Oh yeah, and cookies make me happy! Danish butter cookies, double mmmm! And beets, especially in salads! Random I know, but that’s what Wednesdays are for!

Impromptu Photo Shoot

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

It’s practically impossible to get me out of the house on a cold day. One has to possess a talent of ripping a blanket out of my hands, supplying copious amounts of hot tea, and giving me a good incentive to actually be out. Last week such incentive was supplied by a single phrase of “taking photos”!  Photos you say, well I’ll be there faster than you can finish that sentence. Day turned out to be warm-ish and sunny, automatically putting me in a good mood. I took my lensbaby out to play, and got some funky photos. I mainly went for ‘colours of autumn’ photos which will appear on Trains to Mars… but i couldn’t resist taking a few photos of gorgeous models. Gotta love spontaneous photoshoots!!!

Random Wednesday – Purple Glam!

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

What’s better than writing all the random thoughts in my head in one nicely organized list?  ’Cause we all know how much I love lists. I could make a blog post about every single one of these thoughts, but who really wants to read a page on Toronto’s crazy wind, or me changing a battery in my toothbrush. [Doesn’t matter that it took some serious tools and almost an hour, but alas my toothbrush is buzzing with electrical life once again, and my teeth are sparkly clean. Dentists recommend that I hear!] Before I get whisked away into another rambling land of disconnected thoughts, I better get on with my ‘thought list.’  That’s exactly what Random Wednesday posts will be, random! I might even write all the ideas on pieces of paper throw them into a huge (read TINY) bucket and pull them out, see where it takes me, I’m betting no place sane.

  • What’s with the crazy wind today, Toronto? I told you, wind will make it into this post, and you’d have to read a page about it. But seriously! Wind, you make the grapevines in the backyard dance one crazy disjointed routine! I’m so not coming out of the house today, unless it’s a visit to Costco!
  • Purple furry coat from D&G September ’09 collection. Need I say more? High fashion and all, but I think I’ll pass on that thing, even if they’d pay me to wear it. Wookiee much?  And it’s not only D&G that came out with purple fuzzy stuff. Mac’s Viva Glam VI campaign put Fergie into a purple feather outfit. Chewbacca and Big bird here I come!
  • I love it when the fridge is stocked with fresh produce. I got radishes, Brussel sprouts, green beans, sweet potatoes, red/yellow peppers, tomatoes aaaaaand I can go on forever.  Fresh produce makes me happy, and I’m definitely cooking something new today!
  • New projects get props this week, cause that’s when they are happening. Nothing is more exciting than ideas coming to life. I can watch them dance around the room, scratch my hand a few times, and be completely uncooperative, but hopefully it’ll work out in the end. More on projects later in the week; they deserve a post of their own.

That’s it for a Random Wednesday. Until next time internet!

Today I [heart] – Rain

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Nothing says autumn like waking up to a dark sky and thinking that it’s way too early to get up, just to realize that it’s raining and it’s late! Props go out to gloomy weather for today’s post. I’m completely in love with those rain boots, paired up with a raincoat, an umbrella, and a tote for a punch of colour = perfection. Can’t forget about accessories either. Very monotone, very me : ).

Today I [heart] – Fall Fashion

Monday, September 21st, 2009

As discouraging as it might sound, autumn is here in Canada, at least by my standards. Leaves start to show their true colours and the air takes on the scent of approaching snowfall.  I happen to like the sweater season and always get a bit too excited when I see new arrivals of warm and cozy things. I figured, ‘I’ll throw a ‘day at a cottage’ outfit together from Anthropologie’, which is one of my favourite, unaffordable stores. The whole outfit came up to CAD $1223.25, eeep!  But how gorgeous are those cranberry boots!?! A girl can dream!
