The Annoying Photographer

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

One of the not-so-good things about having photographer as a friend is that they always try to take your camera away… Well, at least I do. Here we were, walking in a gorgeous forest filled with this amazing light and I kept stealing Halina’s camera away. “Oh oh oh, look at this mushroom, Whoooo A TREE”. Seriously, I was like a puppy let loose in a forest for the first time with an average attention span of five seconds! “SQUIRREL” I should be like Bart Simpson writing “I will not steal friend’s cameras” on the board over and over again. Alas, I did it and feel bad about it.  Next time I’ll bring my own camera… or learn how to enjoy the walks without constantly thinking of taking photos. Need to shut off the internal ‘viewfinder’ for a while.

Today I [heart] – Early Autumn

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

It’s been a while since I’ve posted one of these, forgot how much I enjoy making them. It’s like shopping with an unlimited budget! Minus the part where you don’t actually buy anything… I definitely don’t need any more clothes, especially after two hour closet clean up today. Pheeew! …maybe shoes, one can never have enough shoes. Today I looked for something that will go well with changing leaf colour, cold mornings, and gloomy skies. Somehow animal theme sneaked in again. Had to restrain myself from adding a whole bunch of unrelated animals into one outfit. Zoo obsessions, much? Dress it up with high heels, or go casual with riding boots and charcoal coloured tights. I tried almost identical pair of boots in Town Shoes this past weekend. They are at $250. Also, Calvin Klein has similar enamel rings starting from $120, on sale -60%.

  1. Cafe Racer jacket – Anthropologie
  2. Ibsens Buck ring – Verameat
  3. Stable skirt – Anthropologie
  4. Black Enamel ring – Kenneth Jay Lane
  5. Report Caleb shoes – SoleStuck
  6. Steven Sabra boots – Lori’s shoes
  7. Eternity scarf – Anthropologie

Random Wednesday – Kingston

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Oh, how I love the Thursday’s Wednesday editions! Makes me feel like I have extra days in the week… I have no idea why I would want additional work days, but time is never on my side, so I guess few extra won’t hurt. I’d like them to be sunny with white sand, ocean, and Coronas! I swear they will be productive!

  • Has anyone seen Ninja Assassin yet? It’s so horribly BAD, that it’s good! More blood than Kill Bill and by the end everyone was laughing from all the nonsense, or that they payed $13 to watch it. Next on the list are: Pirate Radio, The Men Who Stare at Goats, and Fantastic Mr. Fox. No more bad movies for now.
  • The past week was aaah-may-zing! I got to travel! I think ‘two maximum security prisons’ and ‘middle of nowhere’ were the key words that sold me on going to Kingston (Ontario, that is)! I knew absolutely nothing about the city and it didn’t disappoint. Pretty limestone buildings, cute stores, historic streets, ‘Harry Potter-ish’ looking Queen’s University, what more can you ask for? Oh yeah, beautiful waterfront, windmills, forts, and the most delicious Apple Cider with blueberry scones!

P.S. My obsession with Lensbaby continues – all ‘blurry’ photos are taken with it.

I can Cook! – Seafood Rice

Friday, November 6th, 2009

The ‘complaints’ about lack of food on the blog started to come in, as well as little hints like “Oh, those food photos looked so good they made me hungry.” So back by popular demand, for a limited time only, I present you FOOD (in Polaroids).

Today’s quick meal goes like this: onion, garlic, mushrooms, clam juice, a can of clams, and scallops. Throw in some steamed Chinese cabbage on a side with soy sauce, and done. Just like magic, minus the whole magic part… Oh yeah, can’t forget rice either and a pretty view out of the kitchen window. Taa Daa!

Food looks messy as always! By the time ‘plating’ comes around, I’m too hungry!

Random Wednesday – Dance

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009
  • So I’ve met the perfect guy yesterday. It’s not often that you meet one of those, and I’m not talking ‘perfect’ for everyone, just me, perfect for me. The whole day went so smoothly, from conversations, to food, to laughing at silly jokes and being clumsy. He was perfectly charming in a geeky sort of way, just the way I like them. I was so impressed! I think he found the “How to make Katie fall in love with you-101” book, and was sticking to the rules. And then… I woke up.  Yes, disappointment, how I love thee! My brain was having perfect conversations with itself, no wonder the guy was amazing! Way to go brain!!! Gah, what a rip off!
  • The band is The Herbaliser, the song is “You’re not all that”. It made me dance around the room in my socks, Tom Cruise – Risky Business style..  Ok, not really, but I just love catchy songs that make me ‘shake it’ all by my lonesome, ‘cause that’s what the cool kids do, or so I’ve been told. Mind you the windows are usually open, so if you’d like to see poorly coordinated dance routines, feel free to stare! My neighbors must love me! Listen to it and tell me you weren’t dancing (or bopping your head at least)! The Herbaliser – You’re Not All That starts at around 9:25 in. Midnight Poutine podcasts are completely awesome by the way, and make my photo editing days go by so much faster!
  • Remote controls for lights are cool! with dimmers!..and rechargeable batteries.. and free wireless internet.. and.. and can you tell I’m running out of things to write about? Actually no, I’m not, sorry! But remote controls for lights are great! They are way better than those ‘clap twice things’ or ‘get up and walk to the other side of the room, stick your hand behind the door, turn the switch on, while avoiding bumping your head on a shelf’. Not that I’ve ever done that!
  • I’m on a mini adventure tomorrow to document fall 2009 (doesn’t it sound like I’m going on yet another fashion show? (I actually did, and it was fabulous!). The autumn landscapes are just gorgeous, and light drizzle makes it even better. Camera in hand, rubber boots, umbrella, and extra pair of hands to hold it all, are on my ‘need to pack for tomorrow’ list. Maybe my super creative brain will dream up a way to get more hand ‘real-estate’ for tomorrow. …Brain, what a rip off! : )

Red leaf, you are pretty, even if you are a cliche, lying there on that green grass…
